Baby Bear

Don't tell him this, but I got Sam 2 new Baby Bears just like the one he loves to sleep with. Whyfore dost thou purchase such redundancy? You might ask.
It's because Sam loves to love on this bear. He bites it so hard, and sucks on it and grabs for it and tosses it and I swear when he has more teeth he will do a lot of damage. My mom suggested it and reminded me that I went through a few "Monkey Babies" when I was a little tiny tot.
So I put one of the new bears under my shirt today to get it "mother scented". I know that isn't really a big deal now that he's older but why not? Thing is, I forgot it was there. I wore it around so long sticking out the front of me I got used to it. So when the mailman came to the door to deliver a package, I went to the door like that!
GAAAHHHH!!
He looked at me a little funny, but I didn't think anything of it until I closed the door and walked away.
OOPS!

Mocha Needs a TV Guide

Mocha isn't young. But she's never too old to learn new hobbies. After 10 years of mostly ignoring the TV, she's decided it's very fun now. Especially when there's an aquarium on!

Fa La La La Boing

It's that time of year again!
I would like to direct your attention again this year to the Angels We Have Heard Are High.
Fun-ny!!

Sam has forgotten how to get through the night without eating again. And is pushing through 2 MORE teeth.... so it's been some rough sleeping around here, since I simply REFUSE to give him a bottle between the hours of 11PM and 6AM. However, this morning after him crying every half hour or so I caved and fed him a little after five. grrr. He was the sweetest boy ever today though... so even though we were both light on sleep we had a great day. Tonight at dinner it felt like I could not cram enough food into the boy he just kept wanting more and more... and he ate a lot at other meals/snacks...so I'm hopeful he'll stay full! Please God Please...

Today I wrapped one of his Christmas present right in front of him, which I found completely hilarious. It's a ball that makes a huge electronic boing! boioioing! when you bump it or drop it. It's a great sound! So he was very interested in the process. I was laughing so hard, because it will be all brand new again on Christmas morning! How fun is that?

Oh, and Mocha the black kitty discovered how to turn on Sam's little Fisher Price Aquarium thingy. She finds it extremely entertaining, which is logical since I think she and Sam are at the same intellectual level at least for now. She sat in front of that thing for hours this morning. When it would stop she'd push the blue button and start it up again. Then sit and watch the bubbles and the "fish" and occasionally paw at it. Thank Heaven for rechargeable batteries. She hasn't done it since, so who knows. Maybe she forgot how.

A is for Apple and P is for Poop

Mindy gave me an A. I think that means she thinks I'm nearly Perfect!

So: 10 Things I Love That Begin With The Letter A

1. Amazing Man. He totally Rocks!!

2. Avocado! LOVE THEM!!!

3. Applause. Who doesn't like applause?

4. Answers. I love answers. I wish I had All The Answers. But I don't.

5. Afghans. Warm and cuddly Afghans!

6. Afros

7. Allegretto

8. And ADAGIO is even better. On of my faves: the Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings Op. 11

~~If you want, read about it HERE. And Hear it HERE.~~
But be sure to close your eyes. It sounds better that way.

9. Apple Pie. Yum.

10. African Coffee!!

In other news: I saw Oprah the other day for a few moments and there was a row of women in the front with their babies. One of the babies had his poop face on. Much to the amusement of Oprah and everyone else! He took himself a nice dump on National Television!

And that was his first 15 minutes of fame! I say we get that kid a T Shirt that says "I Pooped On The Oprah Winfrey Show!"

Blessed Sleep

Remember how I said sleeping through the night would be a great Christmas Present?
'Member that?

Well Mr. Samson has slept through the night but I'm so conditioned to waking up that I cannot yet sleep more than 3 or 4 hours at a time, and if I hear no sounds coming from his room I wake up even more and think Holy Crap! Has he really been sleeping this long!? Is he OK? Can he really sleep this long? Is he alright!? And then I get to thinking other thinky thoughts about my day or the day coming up or about my clever plans for world domination and I can't go back to sleep.

But we are getting close. I cannot tell you how happy I am that Mr. Sam is feeling better. He is back to his "old self". We've had two wonderful days where he has slept (mostly) through the night, has no cold and his teeth don't seem to bother him. He ate good and he slept good and we're back on "schedule".

Just in time, for Grandma is coming tomorrow and on Friday night, Amazing Man and I are getting a night OUT. We're staying the night at Marywood where it's nice and quiet. No TV's and no loud talking or other noises allowed in the hallways of the retreat wing! We're going to have a quiet dinner and a quiet evening and a silent night and we're not getting out of bed in the morning until we feel like it!! YEE HAW!

Pain for Sale!

I just got caught waxing!! Wouldn't you believe it.

And don't ask me why I chose to wax my legs in the living room.

But I did, and of course my friend chose that moment to drop off something I left at her house on Sunday! ha. She said she wished she had a camera. I'm glad she didn't.

Oh well. So I waxed this AM. Sam went down for a very early nap. It was one of those times where I just had no idea what to do with him. We did all the fun stuff and he still wasn't happy so I thought hm. I guess I'll put you in your crib and see what happens. He grabbed Baby Bear, rolled onto his side and was out in about 2 minutes! And this after sleeping a LOT last night! wow.

We've had a bit of a rough go lately, poor little dude is cutting a bunch of teeth all at once and I think he has a cold too. Can't breathe well when he's laying down. We've gotten very little sleep, but last night he slept a lot, though he cried out often - maybe from pain or frustration about the breathing. I, on the other hand woke up at 3 AM when I usually feed him -- even though he didn't need to be fed at that time last night -- and couldn't get back to sleep. garr...

The cool thing is that he has had 2 out of three of the last few nights where he didn't eat anything at all during the night!! I've been trying to faze that part of our lives down because frankly I'm sick of getting up in the night and feeding him. I thought he'd get over it himself just by getting older but apparently not. So he's had a little help breaking the habit. I'm hopeful that it's working! More sleep might be on the horizon.... What a Christmas gift that would be!

Yesterday Sam went to the Mall for the very first time. You may remember me posting about how energy sucking Malls are for me, but lately I was thinking I need to get over there, then we can still walk, and the sights and sounds would be fun for Sam. Amazing Man reminded me of that yesterday when it seemed we were in for a very very long day. Sam was cranky right away yesterday morning after a night of very little sleep, not feeling well, etc. we thought maybe the mall would help him forget his woes. Sure enough, it worked like a charm. He was LOVING IT!!! Wow, I couldn't believe it. I even had fun!

So that's the news around here.... I'll go enjoy my little pain buzz from waxing and have another cup of coffee!

Captainwow Returns

Captainwow Went a'travelin again a while back and I forgot to post the pictures. He went with my mom to Branson Missouri. He had a great time.
He's missed lots of travel opportunities, simply because I forget to send him off with friends and such. But he's still pretty well travelled.

you just want me for my zipper

Yesterday morning I was on the floor with Sam and we were playing, rolling around, etc... At one point he opened his mouth wide and reached for me, all excited! I thought "AW how cute" So I bent down so he could play with my face... he pushed me away. Then he did it again.

I thought "AW so cute!! Playing the hard to get game..."

Then I realized it wasn't me he wanted... it was the zipper on my fleece!

And look! His first Piano Lesson!

6 wierd things

Tagged by Janay!

1. I smell everything. Maybe you got this on another meme. It's embarassing sometimes. I just have to smell things. It's a thing.

2. I like salt on Grapefruit. Which is not all that weird, by the way, I know others who eat it this way but apparently it weirds some people out. So I guess that's weird. And hey! It's almost Grapefruit season again! WEEEEEE!!!!

3. I don't mind the smell of Skunk. Maybe if it sprayed me in the face or on my body I wouldn't like it but if it just wafts in from outside, I don't mind it.

4. If I clap my hands or tap something more than just a few times, it's always 13 times. I don't do it on purpose, it just feels right. I noticed a few years back that I stopped clapping once and it sounded/felt wrong so I had to add one. After that I started paying attention and I found that 13 feels right. 13 stomps of the feet, 13 snaps of the fingers to get the cats to come for food. 13 Pats on the butt for Sam, 13 tinks on the glass with my fingernails. I don't get it either....

5. I actually enjoy the kid shows on PBS in the morning.

6. I grew up from age 6 until late teens with no TV in our house, so I know very little of the TV shows during that time. I never watched Dallas or Love Boat or All In The Family or Leave it to Beaver or any of those. I really do not feel deprived at all, In fact I feel it is kind of a big plus. Occasionally in High School I would feel left out when people would talk about shows and I would have no frame of reference, but it never bothered me all that much.
