Do I Dare?

Well I am daring to try a post. Mr. Sam is sleeping in his crib... I have so far taken a shower, put away some laundry, updated Quicken, read my email and read the blogs I usually visit.

I know it's pushing it to think I might get a post written too but I'm going to try.

Not that I have much to say - just that I feel like posting because I CAN!

New discovery: Edamame! WOAH. tasty stuff, that. And Protein rich to boot.
Discovered with JustPat last week at Marado along with the best fried dumplings I've ever had!

So ya. that means I'm getting out more. And it shows up in Quicken. heh.

Do they not make newborn PANTS very much? Cause all I can find are pants in 3 month sizes and up except for 2 pairs at Target which I already bought. Do Babies just not wear pants? I have no clue about baby fashion. Of course there are fancy pants at the more expensive places but I am looking for cheapo ones since he's going to outgrow them so fast.
So the kid has 2 pairs of everyday type pants and 2 pairs of ultracute ones - one of which he's not quite grown into but they are so dang cute!!! (see photo above)

Alas, someone gave us 4 boxes of boys baby and toddler clothes yesterday!! Dang, we're blessed!

In other news, It looks as if I'll be delaying the pursuit of becoming a Spiritual Director. The classes at Marywood are intense and take a huge amount of time. I don't know where I got my information before, but I had no idea. With a Little Dude so young, childcare would be an issue, and I just don't know if I can handle it this Fall. So I'm at this point weighing whether to take the Companioning course in the meantime or just wait altogether. I'm disappointed to have to wait in a way but also I believe things happen as they ought to, as long as I'm not doing anything too cosmically/spiritually funky, so this is going to be OK.

Meanwhile, spring is springing, and the tulips are blooming like mad in the back yard. I spent a couple of hours separating and replanting all the tulip bulbs last fall. I also transplanted the shade loving plants to the front yard where they won't get fried by the sun this summer. That wasn't so easy at 6 months pregnant... I sat on a milk cart and grunted a lot. But it looks now as if it was worth the effort.

Yay for flowers!

Mobile Update

The Mobile has lost another note. The Tune is now a mostly random, very cheerful one that slightly resembles the original ditty. It keeps the Little Dude entertained long enough for me to shower though, and for that I am grateful.

As it was losing the 4th note, it briefly became a very uncheerful, strange blues tune that reminded me of a melancholy drunken bar room piano player.

So far no more notes are deteriorating.

I'll keep you posted.

Nice Rip, Sister!

Ok I feel a little guilty doing this. But I am chosing not to resist.

Tonight I had a little time on my hands while Amazing Man watched over Little Dude. I looked at my Sitemeter and discovered one person had gotten to my blog by Googling "Farting Nun".

For those who may not remember: My Farting Nun Story

I feel so cool now.

And then I clicked on one of the links they found on their search. It goes to the Farting Nun Organ Site.

heh.

If You Need Me, I'll Be In The Holodeck

Is it rude to do a meme if no one tagged you?
oh well. I'm going to anyway.

It may take me days to finish becuase it's long.

In other news, I'm breaking ALL the rules because I'm in love with a short little chubby bald guy who pees his pants, has no money, and LIVES WITH HIS MOTHER!!!

40 Questions meme....

1) Who is the last person you high-fived? Husband, probably - for successfully putting a baby down to sleep or something momentous like that.

2) If you were drafted into a war, would you survive? No I don't think so.

3) Do you sleep with the TV on? No I cannot do much of anything with the TV on - it sucks my brain and forces my eyeballs to stare at it driving everything else out of my mind and it makes me stay awake but useless for ungodly amounts of time.

4) Have you ever drunk milk straight out of the carton? Probably. But I don't like milk much.

5) Have you ever won a spelling bee -- Just classroom bees.

6) Have you ever been stung by a bee -- Yes, many times, and sometimes many times at the same time. My dad had bee hives and we got terrific honey, but I got stung a lot.

7) How fast can you type -- 90WPM last I was tested, but these days I don't type much so it's probly down around 70.

8) Are you afraid of the dark? -- No, but I was until sometime in my 20's. Seriously. Glad to not be afeared now!

9) Eye color -- Blue.

10) .Have you ever made out at a drive-in? No, cause drive ins sort of went away when I was too young to be making out.

11) When is the last time you chose a bath over a shower? A couple weeks ago when our tub spout broke. Wait. Maybe that wasn't a choice. I took a few baths when I was pregnant to ease muscle tension.

12) Do you knock on wood? If I'm standing at someone's front door I do.

13) Do you floss daily? Heck no.

14) What happened to question #14? I've no idea.

15) Can you hula hoop? Yes, but it ain't pretty!

16) Are you good at keeping secrets? Mostly. The important personal type ones I can. But things like Suprise parties and stuff like that tend to slip out. (sorta like last Sept when I tried to suprise Amazing Man - but then accidentally wondered outloud why not many people had RSVP'd) GAR!

17) What do you want for Christmas? To sleep through the night. To have a happy baby and to be with my family and friends.

18) Do you know the Muffin Man? -- The Muffin Man?

19) Do you talk in your sleep? Yes, occasionally.

20) Who wrote the book of love? St John of the Cross

21) Have you ever flown a kite? I've tried but I don't remember ever succeeding.

22) Do you wish on your fallen lashes? No, never heard of such a thing.

23) Do you consider yourself successful? Yes, indeedly I do.

24) How many people are on your contact list of your cell? 55

25) Have you ever asked for a pony? Yes - begged, I believe. Many times. The answer was always no. I'm still bitter.

26) Plans for tomorrow? No.

27) Can you juggle? Yes, I can juggle 3 objects.

28) Missing someone now? Yes, Always.

29) When was the last time you told someone I Love You? Today.

30) And truly meant it? Um, ya. I wouldn't say it if I didn't. YIKES!

31) How often do you drink? Alcohol? Lately, hardly ever. Usually once or twice a week.

32) How are you feeling today? Tired but good.

33) What do you say too much? DAMMIT! (I have to stop or the Little Dude will pick up on it way too young)

34) Have you ever been suspended or expelled from school? no

35) What are you looking forward to? A Nap?

36) Have you ever crawled through a window? Yes, the last time I did was when I was 6 motnths pregnant. Crawled through my kitchen window (the one over the sink) no easy feat, that! I locked myself out.

37) Have you ever eaten dog food? Yes. I tried it when I was A kid to see what it tasted like and later my friends tricked me into eating a dog treat telling me it was a cookie.

38) Can you handle the truth? It depends on the truth.

39) Do you like green eggs and ham? I don't think I mind them. I went on a bike tour accross Michigan once and one of the breakfasts served was literally green eggs and ham. Though I don't think that was on purpose. They tasted fine.

40) Any cool scars? Oh goodness. I have many scars. Some I will not discuss here. C-section scar is the most recent and currently the one I'm most proud of. Some of my scars are simply from me being an idiot. Like jamming my hand up in the clothes shoot to attempt to rescue my favorite flip flop. You can read all about it here.

Last but not least - the footline story is that the Sir Leapsalot Mobile is cracking me up. It has a little music box in it that plays a tune that I don't know. I have heard it before but I don't know what it is. I'd hum the tune for you but that's rather hard on a blog. So when I sing along with it to Sam I sing "I Don't Know the Words to this song..." until the sentence comes out right on the last note. Anyway the little music box in it has been deteriorating for a few days now. First it was kind of off on one note. A little flat. Then a half step flat... soon that note was gone. Today it was another note. In fact, a very important note. One that, when lowered a half step suddenly shifts the whole tune into a minor key. VERY FUNNY!! And then TINK!! That note was gone. Now there is a third one going bad. It's like Charlie Brown's Tree only it's a song.... I want to return the mobile for a replacement... but this is so stinkin entertaining I just might see how far this goes!!

1-800-CALL SAM

Wow, it sure has not been easy to get to this blog and do anything about it.
Besides that I can hardly think of anything to write about except Top 10 Reasons I Already Know My Kid is a Genius and 25 Reasons My Kid is the Cutest Kid in All the World and 151 Poop Stories and Formula Tales...

Sam's smiling now, and getting a little more control over his wild flailing arms. He's starting to be able to see a fair distance so if I'm sitting near him that makes him pretty happy. He loves his Sir Leapsalot Mobile with the frog prince and princess and stars... so if I keep running into his room and winding it up I think I have time to write a very brief blog post.

I can't tell you how many times in my life I've heard people say "It's different when it's your own..." I believed they were telling the truth, but I had none of the right posts in my brain to hang that on to make sense of it until Mr. Sam came along.
