Random Opinion Spouting

No matter how cool it may occasionally be, (a dubious possibility) wallpaper should not be legal.
In any state.
EVER.
Only because it's such a TREMENDOUS PAIN to REMOVE!!!!! And you gotta admit, MOST WALLPAPER chosen by other people is thoroughly OFFENSIVE, thereby inciting the need for the INSANITY INDUCING ACT OF CHEESY WALLPAPER REMOVAL!!

Wallpaper borders fall under this same category.
EVIL!!

  • I agree, Wallpaper only looks good in Wallpaper books. (With very, very, very, rare exceptions).

  • I have to agree. When I am changing a room and taking down wall paper that I MYSELF CHOSE AND PUT UP I get to wondering WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!?!

  • to me, putting it up is worse ... we've done it twice (in 2 small areas) and it almost ended in divorce (lol) both times!!!!

  • Saija, I had no idea you were one of Them. YOU -- you have handled the Forbidden Decorative Material. - Not to remove it, but to... to -- put it UP ON WALLS!?!?
I'm not sure I can read your blog anymore... ::sniff::

  • You might enjoy reading "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman written in 1899.

It actually helped to change the way that doctors treated depression in women. Today we would recognize post partum depression in the patient.

At any rate, it is a classic of American fiction (though it is somewhat autobiographical).

Here is a link to an online version of it:

P.s.: I enjoyed reading your posts today.

  • Woah - I narrowly escaped being one of them!!!!

  • Funny thing is...
You can be all geeked about it and it looks great and all of that but it should come with an expiration date. There comes a time for all wallpaper where it just is way out of fashion.

Unfortunately I have not had the greatest luck with de-wallpapering a house. One room had so much residue glue we had to sand it smooth. Unfortunately even though the wall was smooth you could still see the gunk texture. We ended up having to sponge paint to hide the flaws.
